The Flanders Field Exhibit

Remembrance Day at Waverley seemed an appropriate time to unveil artwork as part of our 'Flanders Field Exhibition'. We invited Mr Chandler (an ex-soldier); Mrs Tinning (Chair of Governors); Mr Roberts and Mrs Armstrong (ex-Chair) to do the honours. Mrs Broderick provided some beautiful music and our pupils ushered our guests and told them about our work. We held an assembly of remembrance and then a procession took our guests to unveil the pupil's work - it included a  poppy painted by every child in the school set amid the backround of a battlefield. We also included prints of our visits to Flanders and some poetry from our oldest pupils who had visited the sites of the Great War. Parents contributed by bringing in objects from their families and pictures of grandparents who were involved in the conflict. We hope that our exhibition evolves overtime as we remember those who fell.

We shall remember them...
