Over the last few weeks of autumn term 2015 there have been a variety of shared training sessions across our schools. OWL practitioners gathered at Throckley to undertake more Prevent training. Since 1st July 2015 it has been a statutory requirement for our schools to be compliant. The session was led by a Prevent Consultant - Peter Thompson . He highlighted how we might prevent children becoming drawn into extremism and the different forms of extremism that have been evident across our city in recent years. This session builds upon a recent Safeguarding Record Keeping session that was delivered by Carmen Slade to Trust safeguarding leads.
Newburn Manor invited schools to discuss aspects of pupil tracking and to see the FROG pupil tracker in action - they will be holding another session soon with other companies invited.
Milecastle invited OWL teachers to a training event that focussed upon the need to promote boys' learning styles in order to increase achievement.
Waverley also hosted NQTs from across the city - they observed Karen Sample deliver a poetry lesson to year 5/6 and afterwards Kate Dalkin led a discussion on aspects of the lesson.
